I’m bored and listening to Depehce Mode, as you may have noticed from the title. I thought this was going to be the best trip ever, but it hasn’t been so far.

I’m at a gorgeous cliffside resort hotel and I have neuropathy like my late friend and boss Jesse Helms had so I cant deal with the massive stairs to go anywhere. So I’m sort of stuck. My partner left in a hurry for an understandable emergency back home. I feel now that I really can’t win. And I have exactly one friend here.

The good news is that I’m ready to work again, at my partner’s urging, actually, and back in touch with Mauricio Maestro and his wife Kay Lyra, daughter of the legendary bossa nova pioneer Carlos Lyra. Maurico won a Grammy last year for a collaboration and I actually cant believe he and Kay, with their combined pedigrees, would want to work with me. I wish I could convey the gratitude in writing.

I want to win a Grammy. Big time life goal. And nowadays I actually think it might be likely.

Whatever, it is what it is. people seem to like my voice, and I’m grateful. And as I sit here in the hotel, staring at the ocean, I think that is that.

I just hang on…suffer well….
